Much of the furniture sold in the U.S. has been sent overseas for production in countries with cheaper labor.  Second hand furniture can be a nice eco-friendly alternative which also helps prevent higher demand for cheap furniture.  (Try OfferUp or your local second-hand store.)  And below are some fair trade and handcrafted furniture options made by artisans who were paid a fair wage..
